Early Life and Education

Nadia Mukami Mwendo was born on November 9, 1996, at Pumwani Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. She is of mixed Kamba and Embu heritage and grew up as the fourth of five children in a close-knit family. Her father held a position in government, while her mother served as a police officer. Although her parents were initially hesitant about her pursuing a career in music concerned about stability and reputation they later became supportive after witnessing her growing success and recognition in the industry.

She began her education at Kari Mwailu Primary School, where she sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2009. Nadia then attended Mount Laverna School in Kasarani for her secondary education.

Nadia Mukami’s musical journey began in 2015 while still at university, when she wrote and recorded her debut track, “Barua Ya Siri.” Her 2017 single, “Kesi,” gained early attention and landed her performance slots at major regional events like Blaze by Safaricom, The Nile Festival, and The Luo Festival.

Her breakthrough came in February 2019 with the release of “Radio Love” featuring Arrow Bwoy. The song was a massive success across East Africa, winning two Pulse Music Video Awards and establishing her as a leading voice in Afropop and Benga-inspired music.

Later in 2019, Nadia represented Kenya on Coke Studio Africa, collaborating with other top African talents.

In October 2020, she released her debut EP, “African Popstar,” which featured major names like Marioo, Khaligraph Jones, Maua Sama, Sanaipei Tande, Orezi, Tamy Moyo, and Lioness Nam. This cemented her cross-border appeal.

In 2022, while pregnant, she released a deeply personal EP titled “Bundle of Joy,” which explored themes of motherhood, resilience, and womanhood.

Nadia is not just a singer she is a businesswoman and mentor. She founded her own record label and creative agency, Sevens Creative Hub, through which she nurtures emerging talent and oversees her brand operations.

In 2023, she launched the “Nadia Nail Bar & Beauty Parlour” in Nairobi. When rumors circulated that a “sponsor” funded the business, Nadia strongly refuted the claims, asserting that she invested over Sh 1.2 million of her own earnings into the venture.
