Kenyan gospel artist Kris Eh Baba has left netizens in stitches after exposing a fake WhatsApp fundraising group that had allegedly been created in preparation for his “upcoming wedding.”
The humorous gospel artist, who is well known for blending Sheng, comedy and gospel music in his content, took to Facebook to shut down the claims after discovering that an unknown individual had allegedly opened a WhatsApp group aimed at soliciting contributions from fans.

According to screenshots circulating online, the WhatsApp group was reportedly being used to mobilise well-wishers to contribute money towards what was described as Kris Eh Baba’s wedding preparations.
However, the singer appeared completely unaware of any wedding plans and quickly flagged the matter publicly.
In a short but hilarious Facebook post, Kris called out the individual behind the alleged scheme while dismissing reports that he was planning to walk down the aisle anytime soon.
“Viyerrah Patrique Please stop auctioning me on WhatsApp. 🫴🏾 Now people want to contribute towards “the wedding” 🤦🏾♂️😂” he wrote.
The witty post immediately sparked laughter among his followers, with many flocking to the comments section to tease the singer while others jokingly insisted that they were already emotionally prepared for his big day.
Some fans dismissed the WhatsApp group as the work of online fraudsters looking to exploit the artist’s popularity, while others jokingly told Kris that whether the wedding rumours were true or false, they were still waiting for him to introduce a wife soon.
One fan commented:
“Kris, we are tired of excuses. Wedding lazima ifanyike sasa 😂”
Another wrote:
“Even if it’s fake, we already accepted the invitation mkuu.”
A different follower joked:
“People are contributing already, don’t disappoint them now 😭😂”
Another netizen added:
“This country has creative scammers. Imagine fundraising for a wedding the groom doesn’t know about!”
Others humorously suggested that the singer should simply proceed with the wedding since fans already seemed excited about the idea.
Kris Eh Baba has built a strong online following over the years thanks to his humorous personality, unique gospel style and viral social media presence.
The artist, whose real name is Christopher Wangaya, rose to fame through songs that fused street slang with gospel messages, earning him both admiration and criticism in equal measure.
Apart from music, Kris is also known for engaging his fans through funny skits, memes and candid online interactions, something that has made many Kenyans relate to him beyond his music career.
Cases of fake fundraising groups and online scams targeting celebrities have become increasingly common on social media platforms and messaging apps.

Fraudsters often use public figures’ names to attract unsuspecting contributors or gain attention online.
Fortunately for Kris Eh Baba, the unusual “wedding fundraiser” ended up becoming a source of entertainment for his fans instead of causing panic.
Even so, many followers urged people to remain cautious before sending money to unofficial online groups or pages claiming to represent celebrities.
