Kenyan comedian Timothy Ndegwa Kimani, widely known as Njugush, has finally broken his silence, albeit in a subtle and indirect way, following weeks of speculation about trouble in his marriage to his wife, Celestine Ndinda, popularly known as Wakavinye.
The beloved couple, known for their chemistry both on and off stage, had recently found themselves at the centre of intense online scrutiny, with fans questioning whether their relationship had hit a rough patch.

Break-up Rumours Spark Online Frenzy
Speculation about their marriage began after eagle-eyed fans noticed a shift in their online presence.
The two, who are usually open about their relationship, appeared to have taken a step back from posting each other on social media.
They also seemingly skipped marking significant milestones such as their anniversary, while Wakavinye’s absence from family-oriented content raised eyebrows among followers who had grown accustomed to their joint appearances.
Unconfirmed reports further claimed that Njugush had allegedly moved out of their matrimonial home in Ruiru, carrying only a few personal belongings.
However, neither he nor Wakavinye publicly addressed or confirmed these claims.
Their professional projects also appeared to reflect the change.
Their popular “By The Way” podcast went quiet, and Wakavinye was noticeably missing from promotional content for their renowned Through Thick and Thin (TTNT) show, developments that only fuelled the rumours further.
Wakavinye’s post that got everyone talking
Amid the speculation, Wakavinye shared a social media post that quickly caught the attention of fans.
Staying true to her comedic personality, she captioned the post:
“Kila mtu abebe msalaba wake 😅”
The caption, loosely translating to “Everyone should carry their own cross,” sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans reading deeper meaning into her words given the ongoing rumours surrounding her marriage.
Njugush’s Subtle But Telling Reaction
In what many interpreted as his first public response to the rumours, Njugush reacted to Wakavinye’s post, and fans were quick to notice.
The comedian dropped a playful comment under the post, writing:
“Na yangu ni heavy lakini nitabeba 😂”
(“Mine is heavy but I will carry it.”)
The light-hearted remark, delivered in his signature humorous style, immediately reassured many fans that all might not be lost between the two.
Beyond the comment, Njugush also interacted with the post through his brand page, a move that further hinted that the couple could still be on good terms despite the swirling speculation.

Fans React
Following the exchange, fans flooded the comment section with reactions, many expressing relief at seeing the two interact again publicly.
Some followers interpreted the interaction as proof that the rumours had been exaggerated, while others speculated that the couple could be teasing a new project or simply choosing to keep their private life out of the spotlight.
Others, however, maintained that the situation remained unclear, urging the couple to address the rumours directly.
Silence Still Lingers Despite Subtle Clues
Despite Njugush’s light-hearted response, neither he nor Wakavinye has officially addressed the breakup rumours.
The two, who met while studying at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) before tying the knot in a colourful wedding in 2016, have long been admired as one of Kenya’s most stable celebrity couples.
For now, their fans are left reading between the lines, analysing posts, captions, and comments, hoping for clarity.
Whether it was a simple joke, a coded message, or a reassurance to fans, Njugush’s reaction has undoubtedly shifted the conversation, offering a glimmer of hope that all may still be well in one of Kenya’s most loved celebrity marriages.
