Bomet police have launched an intensive manhunt for a 29-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing his 32-year-old uncle over a domestic dispute.
According to Bomet County Police Commander Edward Imbwaga, the suspect, identified as Hillary Cheruiyot Sang, attacked his uncle, Gilbert Kiplangat Bett, stabbing him in the cheek and delivering fatal injuries to the neck, which led to his immediate death at the scene.
Imbwaga stated that the suspect’s mother, Betty Bett, attempted to intervene and calm the situation, but her efforts were unsuccessful as her son was reportedly enraged over allegations that his uncle had been cohabiting with her.
Police officers responded swiftly but the suspect fled the scene before they could apprehend him. The murder weapon has not yet been recovered.
Investigators have processed the scene, and the victim’s body has been transferred to Kapkatet Hospital mortuary as the search for the suspect continues. Authorities are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sang to come forward.
