National Police Service (NPS) officers, working jointly with National Government Administration Officers (NGAO), have intensified the fight against illicit alcohol after conducting a successful operation in Soweto area, Kahawa West, within Kasarani Sub-County, Nairobi County.
According to the police, the targeted operation was aimed at dismantling networks involved in the production and distribution of illegal alcoholic drinks that pose serious risks to public health and security.
During the raid, officers recovered a total of 2,400 litres of Kangara and 120 litres of Chang’aa. Authorities also seized various equipment and apparatus believed to have been used in the manufacture of the illicit brews.
“The operation led to the recovery of 2,400 litres of Kangara and 120 litres of Chang’aa, alongside brewing equipment used in the production of the illegal alcohol,” police said.
The National Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the manufacture, sale and consumption of illicit brews across the country, noting that such substances continue to endanger lives and contribute to insecurity within communities.
“The National Police Service remains committed to combating the production, distribution and consumption of illicit brews and other harmful substances that threaten public health, safety and security,” the service stated.
Police urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by reporting individuals involved in the illegal alcohol trade and other criminal activities.
The latest operation forms part of ongoing nationwide efforts by security agencies to crack down on illicit alcohol manufacturers and distributors as the government seeks to protect consumers and promote safer communities.
