Prime Suspect Ordered To Remain In Custody For Additional 21 Days In Gruesome Triple Homicide Case

The prime suspect in the brutal murders of three family members a mother, daughter, and 12-year-old niece has been ordered to remain in custody for 21 days while investigations continue.

Makadara Senior Principal Magistrate Mary Njagi issued the ruling on Monday, November 4, allowing Hashim Dagane Muhumed to be detained at Ruaraka Police Station until December 2, 2024, at which point he will be presented in court for further proceedings.

During his appearance at the Makadara Law Courts, detectives successfully argued for an extension of Hashim’s detention, highlighting that he poses a flight risk.

They noted that he had already relocated after the alleged crimes.

The families of the victims attended the court hearing, where Hashim was brought in under heavy security.

Police have discovered that he deliberately shaved his beard in an attempt to evade detection.

Hashim, 34, was apprehended in Eastleigh, Nairobi, after nearly two weeks of evading authorities.

He had been hiding in the area while investigators expanded their search to Somalia and Ethiopia.

On November 2, CCTV footage captured him leaving a building in Eastleigh, where he frequently loitered to solicit taxi customers.

Authorities conducted an extensive manhunt, tracking Hashim’s movements with forensic evidence.

Despite his efforts to mislead police, including using multiple phone numbers, he was cornered and, realizing the police were closing in, surrendered from his hideout.

Investigators also uncovered several counterfeit documents in his possession, including a fake Kenyan ID.

Before moving to Kenya, Hashim reportedly served as a regional police officer in Ethiopia and worked as a driver at various schools in Eastleigh.

Hashim is a suspect in the murders of Amina Abdirashid, her aunt Waris Dahabo Daud, and niece Nusayba Abdi Mohammed.

Police believe he was acquainted with the victims and previously engaged in extortion activities in Nairobi.

He is linked to the crime through a Nissan Note that was captured on CCTV picking up the victims from their Eastleigh home on October 21, hours before their bodies were discovered in different locations.

As the investigation progresses, authorities aim to uncover more details surrounding this gruesome case.
