Speaking during a candid interview with Oga Obinna, Marya disclosed that all her friends deserted her when she suffered the stroke, leaving her alone with her best friend who stood by her side throughout her recovery journey.

“All of them left. I will never count on friends. Become sick, and then you will know. A few stayed. I have my best friend, who has been walking with me all along. Those who stayed are close friends and family. It happened at the beginning of the year. My left side is completely paralysed,” she revealed.

The songstress also used the opportunity to share with Kenyans how the ailment started and what followed after suffering stroke.

According to Marya, everything happened in a blink of an eye while carrying her son.

When she was hit by the stroke, her son fell to the floor.

She hurriedly stood up to pick up her son, but unfortunately, she also fell.

Her nanny was shocked to find the two lying on the floor but did her best to save the situation by calling for help.

“It happened in the blink of an eye. I woke up, I was holding my second born with this left side, he fell. You know, the motherly instincts let me wake up and pick him. When I got up, I also fell. My son is crying, and I was also crying. My nanny got confused. I told her to call whoever, and immediately I felt the numbness in my hand and leg. It just happened,” she disclosed.

Nairobi News understands Marya suffered the ischemic type of stroke, which occurs when a blood vessel that supplies the brain becomes blocked, stopping blood flow and causing brain cells to die.

Following the attack, Marya went MIA and took a sabbatical from social media in a move that got her fans worried.
