Two Arrested Over Death Of 17-Year-Old Boy In Nyandarua

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy from Ramana village in Nyandarua County, as investigations into the incident continue.

Speaking in a phone interview, Mirangine Sub-County Police Commander Peter Walah confirmed the arrests and noted that more suspects could be apprehended as investigations progress.

The suspects were transferred to Olkalou Police Station on Tuesday following a peaceful demonstration by residents.

The protesters accused the police of being slow to arrest two other individuals believed to have been involved in the brutal assault that led to the teenager’s death.

Mirangine OCS Samuel Mukuna addressed the demonstrators and confirmed that the two suspects were arrested on Saturday and had already recorded statements with the police.

He appealed to members of the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the ongoing investigation.

According to residents, the victim, Samson Kahuria, was allegedly tortured on Friday last week inside a residential house in Gwa Kiongo township after being suspected of stealing two pairs of trousers.

His family members claim he was forced to undress and walk through a thicket of stinging nettles near the Gwa Kiongo dam.

Samson was initially taken to Mirangine Health Centre but was later referred to JM Kariuki Hospital in Olkalou, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Residents have linked a local gang known as B13 to the incident. The group is accused of terrorizing locals in the Gwa Kiongo area.

Some residents allege that certain politicians have used gang members for security during political events.

As burial preparations for Samson continue, his family has vowed not to lay him to rest until all suspects are arrested and held accountable for his death.
