Missing man found dead in swamp in Oljororok, Nyandarua


A man who had been missing for six days was found dead and body dumped in a swamp area in Oljororok, Nyandarua County.

Police said John Mwangi Macharia went missing from the Nyakarianga village on November 7 and a missing report had been made.

His body was on Thursday found lying in a swamp with visible injuries on the back of his head.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

Elsewhere in Homa Bay’s Arunda estate one Wycliffe Amollo, 29 was stabbed and killed in a house. He was alone in the house when the incident happened, police said.

Police arrived at the scene and found the body with a stab wound in the chest and head and lying in a pool of blood.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy, police said.

In Rangwe, Homa Bay, a suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of one Michael Odongo, 58 in the area last month.

Police said the man was arrested while in a hideout and would take murder plea.

In Kehancha, Migori County, one Stephen Simoku Gibore was found dead in an open field after a suspected murder.

Police said the body had multiple wounds on the head. The motive of the murder was not known. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

Murder cases have been on the rise in separate incidents amid efforts to solve them, police say. Police say up to eight murder incidents are reported daily in a worrying trend. Some of the cases have so far been solved while others remain unsolved, police say.

Most of the cases are linked to love triangles and land issues.
