Alliance High School Sends Students Home After Dormitory Incident

Alliance High School asked parents to pick up their sons and take them home for the weekend following an incident involving a section of mattresses in one of the institution’s older dormitories.

In a notice issued on Thursday, the school administration said the incident was promptly contained and managed, assuring parents that all students were safe, accounted for, and continuing with their normal academic activities.

The school’s Board of Management and administration convened a parents’ meeting at 10 a.m. to brief families on the situation, explain measures taken, and discuss plans aimed at safeguarding student welfare and maintaining a conducive learning environment.

According to the communication signed by the principal, the meeting was intended to provide updates on the incident, address concerns from parents, and outline both immediate and long-term safety measures.

Following the meeting, parents were requested to leave with their sons and spend the weekend with them at home as the school undertakes further internal reviews and preparations.

The administration emphasized that the decision was precautionary and not a response to any immediate danger, stressing that students remained calm and under supervision.

“We wish to reassure all parents that there is no cause for alarm,” the school said in the statement, adding that the move was intended to support the well-being of students and maintain confidence within the school community.

The incident comes amid heightened concern over student safety in Kenyan boarding schools following a series of unrest and fire incidents reported in learning institutions across the country in recent weeks.

At least 16 girls were killed in a fire incident at the Utumishi Girls Academy in Gilgil. Nine students were arrested over the arson attack.
