A 40-year-old woman was attacked and killed in her home in Nangili, Kakamega County.
The man of the house managed to escape the attack unharmed, police said. The gang also tried to set the house on fire in the January 16 incident. The motive of the attack was not immediately established.
The body of Anna Iswani was found in the house with cuts in the legs and hands. The gang had locked the house from outside and tried to set it on fire in vain, witnesses said.
Police visited the scene and recovered two pangas and three plastic bottles that were used to ferry petrol there as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in the Kemera area, Nyamira County, a night guard was killed in a robbery at a bar.
The deceased who was identified as Charles Mokaya, 55 was found lying in a pool of blood long after his murder in Riverside Bar at the local trading centre.
The guard was on duty at the bar when he was attacked on January 16 night, police said.
The attackers stole alcohol from the bar and escaped. Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Dagahaley, Dadaab, Garissa County, a taxi driver was shot and wounded in the right buttock in a robbery.
The driver was on his way from Garissa to Dagahaley on January 16 dawn when he was ambushed by three armed men who wore masks.
The men robbed the occupants of the car of cash and other valuables before the driver tried to speed off from the scene. It was then that they opened fire, injuring him in the buttock.
The victim was rescued to the hospital as the gang escaped the scene.
In Adungosi, Teso, Busia County, a woman was robbed of Sh50,000 in an attack.
The victim was ambushed as she dropped from a motorcycle, police said adding the gunmen escaped the scene after shooting to the air.
The hunt on the attackers was ongoing on Sunday, police said.
