The Inspector General of the National Police Service (NPS), Douglas Kanja, has officially opened a sensitisation forum on the NPS Systems Review Report and updates on its implementation at the National Police Leadership Academy.
The one-day engagement, held in collaboration with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), brought together senior NPS leadership, including Regional Commanders, Formation Commanders, Regional Traffic Enforcement Officers, and Directors.
The forum marks the beginning of the implementation phase of the Systems Review Report, a reform initiative aimed at strengthening public trust in the police service through enhanced transparency, accountability, and integrity mechanisms.
In his remarks, IG Kanja commended the EACC and development partners, including UNODC and the European Union, for their continued technical and institutional support.
He noted that the Systems Review process is a strategic partnership designed to identify institutional gaps within the Service and establish sustainable corrective measures.
The Inspector General reassured officers across all ranks that the reform initiative is driven by the goal of delivering professional, trusted, and knowledge-based policing services anchored in a strong strategic framework and reinforced by robust integrity systems.
Speaking at the forum, EACC Commissioner Dr. Cecilia Mutuku described the engagement as a critical milestone, signaling a shift from assessment to implementation.
She termed the exercise a defining moment in the transformation of the NPS and lauded the Inspector General for championing progressive reforms within the Service.
The event was also attended by Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Mr. Eliud Lagat; Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Mr. Gilbert Masengeli; and Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Mr. Mohamed Amin.
The EACC delegation included Chief Executive Officer Mr. Abdi Mohamud.
The NPS reiterated its commitment to institutional reforms aimed at enhancing professionalism, integrity, and service delivery across the country.
