The incident happened at about 1:32pm on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Gate D, where General Service Unit (GSU) officers were manning the entrance to the restricted presidential compound, according to police reports cited by local media.

Tuk-tuk driver allegedly ignored officers

According to police, the officers noticed the man approaching the gate in a tuk-tuk and instructed him to stop.

He allegedly ignored the commands and continued driving towards the security barriers at high speed, prompting the officers to intervene.

The man was intercepted before he could gain access to the restricted section of State House and subsequently taken into custody for questioning.

During interrogation, police reportedly learnt that the suspect wanted to meet access State House to meet President William Ruto, claiming that he wanted to “tell him something.”

Incident raises fresh security concerns

The latest incident has drawn attention because it occurred at the same State House entrance where a GSU officer was fatally attacked in October 2025.

On October 13, 2025, Police Constable Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka, who was attached to the GSU’s G Company, was killed while manning Gate D along Dennis Pritt Road.

Police said the officer was conducting routine security checks when a man approached the entrance and attacked him. The suspect was arrested and later became the subject of a murder case.

The 2025 incident prompted heightened security around State House, particularly at access points used to screen visitors and vehicles.

Security heightened after latest scare

Following Sunday’s incident, security operations around State House were reportedly intensified as authorities moved to prevent any possible breach of the presidential compound.

State House is among Kenya’s most heavily protected government installations, with GSU officers playing a key role in securing the President and the facility.

The latest attempted entry is therefore likely to attract scrutiny from security agencies as investigators seek to establish whether the man’s actions were driven by a personal desire to speak to the President or whether there were other motives behind his approach to the gate.

For now, the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
