Radio Maisha And Radio 47 Presenters Throw Jabs At Each Other Over EPL Broadcasting Rights

Top radio stations Radio Maisha and Radio 47 have taken their rivalry a notch higher.

Their rivalry began when the new kid on the block, Radio 47 poached almost the entire team of presenters from Radio Maisha when they launched about three years ago.

Radio 47 also ate up a big chunk of Radio Maisha’s listenership.

Well, the two stations may not have openly expressed their beef against each other but the same has been exhibited severally, creating a wide rift among local radio lovers.

The two stations seem to have awakened their beef following the commencement of the 2025/2026 English Premier League on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Presenters from both stations have been throwing cold salvos at each other with all claiming bragging rights on the EPL live broadcast.

It all started with Radio 47’s sports presenter Fred Arocho confirming to their listeners that the station would be airing all the EPL’s 380 games.

“All the 380 2025-2026 EPL matches will be LIVE on Radio 47. Hapa Ndioo. Na bado,” Arocho wrote on Facebook.

His post was shared by yet another Radio 47 presenter Mbaruk Mwalimu who captioned;

“Twiga ameona mbali. Anasema ni rasmu mechi zote za EPL zitakua Liiiiiiive. Unamwamini?”

Their tormenting posts rubbed Radio Maisha’s head of sports, Stephen Mukangai who responded with a cryptic message on Facebook.

Mukangai, taking to Facebook just hours after posts by Mbaruk and Arocho went viral posted a Bible verse that somewhat targeted Radio 47’s presenters.

“James 4:7 God opposes the prud but shows favour to the humble,” Mukangai wrote.

The attacks against each other attracted the attention of Radio 47’s veteran radio host Hassan Mwana Wa Ali who tried his level best to extinguish the fire.

In a post sighted by Nairobi News, Ali urged fans not to be carried away by the rivalry as presenters from both sides will forever remain friends.

According to Ali, both presenters were just doing what they had to do all to promote their different sides.

He insisted that fans should not be swayed by the ongoing rivalry between presenters from the two stations.

Watu wanasaka riziki yakhe!

Kumbuka: Mchama ago hanyeli…..

NB: Usidanganywe na mbeko, utani na vijembe vya hewani. Sisi wanahabari twapendaana sana! Twakutana, twajuliana hali, twanywa na kula pamoja. Mngejua!

Aisee!

LANGU JICHO!” Ali posted.

It is important to note that Radio Maisha has enjoyed the rights to broadcast EPL matches for several years, a major draw for its large fan base of football enthusiasts.

However, Radio 47 has also been in the mix, seeking to secure these lucrative rights to boost fan engagement and attract a new audience.

The fight for these broadcasting rights is a high stakes game that highlights the fierce competition between the two stations to provide their listeners with the most compelling content.
