Minor’s body found in septic tank after murder in Kitui

The body of a minor who was missing was found floating in a septic tank after his suspected macabre murder in Majengo, Kitui Town.

Police said the mother of the one and eight months old boy had on September 28, 2025 left him in the house to go and buy medicine for her ailing husband when she found him missing minutes later.

The husband claimed he had also left the house and left the boy therein alone as he went to allegedly fetch for charcoal from a nearby shop.

This sent a signal to the mother that something was bad.

The couple stayed at a rental house in the area.

Neighbours insisted that they had not seen the man leave the house as he claimed.

This prompted a search in the compound when they stumbled on the body of the child floating in the septic tank.

The tank is usually covered by a man hole and police suspect the man strangled the boy and dumped the body therein before covering it again.
