9-year-old boy drowns in water pool in Nandi village

A nine-year-old boy drowned in a water pool in Tuyo Village, Nandi Central Sub-County.

The deceased was reported to have drowned on September 26, 2026, with the incident reported to police at around 9:30pm.

The boy’s parents had left home early in the morning for casual work and returned at around 1pm.

They found that their son was missing and began searching for him.

The search led them to a water pool located about 300 metres from their home, where they found the boy’s clothes outside the fence surrounding the pool.

Police officers and DCI personnel visited the scene and processed and documented it.

With the assistance of members of the public, the boy’s body was retrieved from the water.

The body was taken to Samaritan Hospital Mortuary in Kapsabet, where it was preserved pending an autopsy.

And a 28-year-old man is feared to have drowned in River Kimnyan in Kolowa Sub-County, Baringo County.

The incident was reported to police at around 10:43pm on September 26, 2026, after members of the public alerted the chief of Kapunyany Location, Jackson Kiptesho, that a man’s body had been spotted floating in the river.

Preliminary information indicated that the victim had drowned in the river, although the circumstances leading to the incident had not been established.

Police officers were expected to visit and process the scene and commence efforts to retrieve the body.

Further details were awaited as the recovery operation continued.

Meanwhile, police have recovered a mutilated and decomposed body of an unidentified person from a thicket in Birika area, Isinya Sub-County, Kajiado County.

The discovery was reported on September 26, 2026, after a resident alerted police about a decomposed body lying in a bush.

Police visited the scene and found the badly decomposed and mutilated remains of a person whose gender could not immediately be established.

CSI officers processed and documented the scene before the remains were removed from the thicket.

The body was taken to Nairobi Funeral Home, where it was preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death.
