The National Police Service has intensified coordinated security operations across the Coast region in a renewed crackdown on rising criminal activities.
In a statement, police said the multi-agency operations are part of sustained efforts to strengthen public safety and maintain peace through intelligence-led strategies, increased patrols, enhanced surveillance, and strategic deployments.
Authorities noted that the region has recently experienced a spike in criminal activities, including armed robbery, burglary, drug trafficking, and violent land invasions by armed gangs, particularly in Kilifi County. The incidents have raised concern among residents and disrupted community security.

As a result of targeted operations, 17 suspects linked to various crimes have been arrested and are in custody pending arraignment in court.
During the crackdown, officers recovered one AK-47 rifle with a magazine and 12 rounds of ammunition. More than 35 kilograms of suspected narcotics including bhang, heroin, and cocaine were also seized.
Additionally, police confiscated over 40 mobile phones and SIM cards believed to have been used to coordinate criminal activities.
Other items recovered include crude weapons such as clubs and machetes, as well as government stores, including police uniforms and other exhibits relevant to ongoing investigations.

Police confirmed that operations remain ongoing, with intensified patrols in identified hotspots and sustained intelligence efforts aimed at preventing further criminal activity.
The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, protecting communities, and upholding the rule of law across the Coast region.
Members of the public have been urged to continue sharing information on suspicious activities through the nearest police station or law enforcement officer.
