Police have arrested four suspects linked to a notorious criminal gang in Nakuru County following a coordinated security operation targeting rising cases of violent crime.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), officers from Mau Narok Police Station intercepted two suspects at Mau-Narok Trading Centre during a patrol. The duo had reportedly been under surveillance over suspected involvement in criminal activities.
“Upon arrest, the suspects were found armed with concealed machetes and daggers, indicating a clear intent to commit violent offences,” police said in a statement.
Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to a gang locally known as the “Men in Black,” believed to be behind a series of robberies and burglaries that have affected residents and businesses in the area.

“Initial findings connect the suspects to a criminal group associated with multiple robbery incidents in Mau Narok and surrounding areas,” the statement added.
Following the arrests, detectives launched follow-up operations based on intelligence gathered, leading to the recovery of household goods and electronic items suspected to have been stolen.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects accused of handling stolen property, pointing to a wider network involved in storing and distributing stolen goods.
“The recovery of these items and subsequent arrests indicate the existence of a broader criminal network,” police noted.
All four suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.
The NPS said the operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing.
“We remain committed to dismantling organised criminal groups and enhancing the safety and security of all Kenyans,” the police stated.
