Geoffrey Mosiria Speaks Out After Allegations He Diverted Hospital Medicines to His Chemists

Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service Geoffrey Mosiria has broken his silence over allegations that he diverted medicines meant for public hospitals to pharmacies allegedly owned by him, insisting that he served with diligence, integrity and commitment during his tenure in the Health Department.

Mosiria issued a strongly worded response after watching a video in which a Nairobi County officer, whom he described as an ally of his boss and a director-level official serving as Vice Chair of the Liquor Board, allegedly made accusations against him.

The county official dismissed the claims, maintaining that he worked to ensure medicines reached the intended beneficiaries across Nairobi’s public health facilities.

He also raised concerns about alleged threats to his personal safety, claims of a possible criminal frame-up and reports that individuals were allegedly being mobilised to attack him.

In his statement, Mosiria directly addressed his boss, defending his record in public service and challenging anyone with credible evidence against him to present it through the appropriate legal channels.

“My boss, I served you diligently and with integrity,” he declared, insisting that he would not be intimidated by allegations that could be tested through evidence and due process.

Mosiria Responds to Claims of Medicine Diversion

The controversy centres on allegations made in a video that Mosiria says accused him of opening chemists outside hospital entrances while serving as Chief Officer in the Health Department.

According to Mosiria, the allegations further suggested that medicines intended for Nairobi County hospitals had been diverted to pharmacies allegedly belonging to him.

He strongly rejected the claims, saying his priority during his tenure was to ensure that patients received the medicines and healthcare services they deserved.

Mosiria maintained that he facilitated the purchase and delivery of medicines to all 124 county health facilities.

He said the deliveries were accompanied by area Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), Community Health Promoters (CHPs), chiefs and other community leaders.

He presented the involvement of these officials and community representatives as part of his account of how the medicines were distributed, insisting that public supplies were meant to reach patients who depended on county hospitals for treatment.

“I am a Christian who believes in humanity, accountability and the fear of God. I cannot deliberately steal medicines meant for sick and suffering people to enrich myself,” he said.

The county official added that public resources must be treated as a trust and that public servants have a moral obligation to protect them.

He further argued that personal enrichment at the expense of vulnerable patients would come at a cost to one’s conscience, integrity and peace of mind.

However, the allegations and Mosiria’s response have not, on the information available, been independently established as findings of wrongdoing.

Any determination of whether medicines were diverted would require credible evidence and, where appropriate, investigations by the relevant authorities.

Raises Alarm Over Alleged Plot to Attack Him

Beyond defending his record in the Health Department, Mosiria claimed that he had received information suggesting that plans were being made to attack him.

He alleged that goons were being mobilised to harm him and that there were further plans to implicate him in a criminal case in an attempt to damage his reputation and career.

The county official was, however, careful to state that he could not independently verify who, if anyone, was behind the alleged plans.

“I have further been informed of alleged plans to implicate me in a criminal case to destroy my reputation and career,” he said, adding that he was taking the reported threats seriously.

Mosiria called for his safety to be respected and urged the relevant authorities to investigate any threats made against him.

He argued that violence, intimidation and the alleged misuse of public office had no place in leadership, maintaining that any person found to be planning an attack should be held accountable under the law.

The allegations of a planned attack and a possible criminal frame-up remain claims made by Mosiria. No independent confirmation of the alleged plot was established in the material available for this report.

Says He Will Not Be Intimidated

Mosiria insisted that he would not abandon his principles because of what he described as attempts to intimidate him or tarnish his name.

He argued that an attack on him would go beyond his personal safety, potentially undermining the ability of public servants to perform their duties without fear and the right of Nairobi residents to demand accountability from their leaders.

The chief officer also reiterated his commitment to advocating for residents, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds who depend on public services.

According to Mosiria, public service should focus on improving the lives of citizens rather than protecting personal interests.

“I am a truthful man who values integrity. I will not abandon my principles because of threats, intimidation or attempts to tarnish my name,” he stated.

He added that he was aware of previous attempts to challenge his position through legal proceedings and maintained that he respected the courts and the rule of law.

Mosiria said he would continue defending himself through lawful means against allegations he considers false or malicious.

“My boss, I served with diligence, and I will not apologise for standing for what is right,” he declared.

He concluded his statement by reaffirming his commitment to integrity, accountability and the people of Nairobi, saying his loyalty to public service and his conscience would not be compromised.

Nairobi County Leadership Under Scrutiny

The dispute comes amid wider public debate over governance, accountability and service delivery within Nairobi City County.

Mosiria has previously spoken publicly about disagreements concerning the management of public funds and service delivery.

In an interview published by the Daily Nation on October 19, 2026, he discussed his reported fallout with Governor Johnson Sakaja, claiming that he had been sidelined following disagreements over the management of public resources and his responsibilities in the Health Department.

Those claims reflect Mosiria’s account of the relationship and should be distinguished from independently established findings.

The latest allegations add another layer to the questions surrounding relationships within the county administration, particularly when disagreements involve the conduct of public officers and the management of essential services.

The distribution of medicines is especially important because patients rely on public health facilities for access to treatment.

Any credible allegation that essential medicines have been diverted from their intended destinations warrants appropriate scrutiny, while anyone accused of wrongdoing is entitled to a fair process.

Similarly, claims of threats against public officials should be handled seriously and investigated on the basis of evidence rather than speculation.

Calls for Evidence and Due Process

Mosiria has challenged those making accusations against him to present credible evidence through the proper legal channels rather than relying on public allegations.

His position is that his record should be assessed on the basis of his work and verifiable evidence, not claims circulated through videos or other public platforms.

Whether the medicine-diversion allegations have any factual basis remains a matter requiring evidence. No conclusion about individual culpability should be drawn solely from competing public statements.

The same standard applies to the alleged threats against Mosiria.

Establishing whether an attack was planned or whether anyone intended to implicate him in a criminal case would require independent investigation.

For Nairobi residents, the dispute raises important questions about accountability, the protection of public resources and the responsibility of county officials to ensure that healthcare services reach those who need them.

Mosiria maintains that he stands by his record and will continue to defend himself through lawful means.

“I CHOOSE INTEGRITY. I CHOOSE ACCOUNTABILITY. I CHOOSE THE PEOPLE OF NAIROBI,” he concluded.
