Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi has announced plans to take members of the family of the late Nderitu Gachagua to State House next week, amid an ongoing inheritance dispute involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Wamumbi dismissed claims that he had interfered with the family’s affairs, stating that he had no prior contact with them. “I have not interfered with your family affairs. I have not met your family members… and so you lied,” he said.
However, the MP revealed that the family recently reached out to him seeking assistance. “After you mentioned me, I want to state categorically that the family of your late brother looked for me. I have now talked with them and they have asked me to take them to State House,” Wamumbi added.
According to the legislator, he has already consulted President William Ruto, who approved the meeting. “I talked with the President and he okayed because they are Kenyans,” he said.
Wamumbi emphasized his duty as Mathira MP to support all constituents, including the Gachagua family. “They are my constituents and I have a responsibility of listening to everyone who comes from Mathira,” he noted.
He further clarified that the planned visit will be conducted openly. “I will take them to State House during the day and we will take pictures. It will not be done in secrecy,” he said, responding to earlier allegations.
The MP disclosed that the family had shared documents with him regarding the dispute but declined to reveal details. “That family has gone through a very painful period,” he said.
The development adds a new twist to the simmering family wrangles surrounding the estate of the late Nderitu Gachagua, with political undertones now emerging in the dispute.
