Motorcyclist found killed in Kabwoyo Forest, Bungoma


Police launched investigations into the murder of a 39-year-old man whose body was found along a forest road in Kabwoyo Forest in Mt Elgon Sub-county, Bungoma County.

The victim, identified as Griffin Kipchumba Neibei, was discovered on Wednesday evening lying dead on the roadside with his throat slit, in what detectives suspect was a brutal killing.

According to police, the incident was reported at around 9.30 p.m., although the murder is believed to have occurred at about 6.30 p.m.

Police visited the scene and found the deceased’s red motorcycle lying nearby.

The scene was documented by investigators before the body was moved to Kimilili Santee Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police said the motive for the killing remains unknown, and no arrests had been made by the time of filing the report. Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify those responsible.

And a fisherman who was attacked by a hippopotamus while fishing at Lake Mikimba in Magarini Sub-county, Kilifi County, has been found dead after a search operation.

Police said the body of Kalume Kalama was traced and retrieved from the lake on Wednesday evening following the attack.

The deceased is reported to have been fishing when he was attacked by the wild animal and disappeared into the water.

According to police, the body bore severe injuries to both hands and the lower abdomen, consistent with a hippopotamus attack.

Police officers visited and documented the scene before the body was moved to the Malindi Sub-County Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched inquiries into the incident as authorities continue to urge residents living near water bodies inhabited by hippos to exercise caution, especially during fishing and other activities along the shoreline.
