President William Ruto has dismissed claims that the Social Health Authority (SHA) is on the verge of collapse, insisting that the health system continues to deliver for families and public servants across the country.
The President was responding to remarks by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who had suggested that SHA could collapse within six months.
“I want to tell those spreading this alarm—it is not a sudden problem. Families are benefiting every day, SHA is paying for individuals and teachers, and our police officers will soon join SHA as well,” Ruto said.
He described the claims of impending collapse as propaganda and emphasized that the authority has consistently met obligations.
“We have paid the highest amounts ever disbursed by any social security in the Republic of Kenya using SHA. The facts are stubborn. SHA is working, and we are only going to become better,” the President added.
Ruto also criticized political opponents for spreading misinformation, suggesting that their understanding of the system is limited. “These other people are talking not because of facts, but because of their low status. They don’t understand what is going on, and we don’t blame them,” he remarked.
The President’s statement reinforces the government’s position that SHA remains a key pillar in providing health coverage to public servants and ordinary Kenyans, as the administration continues efforts to strengthen access to healthcare services nationwide.
