The Kenyan entertainment industry is mourning the sudden and tragic death of Alex Nzomo, the talented lead pianist of the renowned Kaya International Band.
Nzomo, celebrated for his unmatched skills in Bango and Rhumba music, lost his life on the night of Saturday, October 25, 2025, after being involved in a horrific road accident in Kilifi County.
According to sources close to the deceased, the gifted keyboardist died on the spot when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a long-distance trailer along the Kilifi–Malindi road.

Band Leader Breaks the News
The heartbreaking news was first shared by Kaya International Band leader, Job Chilabasi, through an emotional Facebook post.
“It’s not easy ..Mungu tupe nguvu mpaka kuche,” Job wrote.
Upon further inquiries, Job confirmed that the post was about the untimely death of his band’s pianist.
In a subsequent update, Chilabasi revealed that Alex Nzomo was on his way to perform at an event around Kaloleni, Kilifi County when the accident occurred.
Final Moments Before the Tragedy
In a detailed and emotional narration, Job recounted Nzomo’s final moments, revealing that he had spoken to him just hours before the accident.

The band leader added that the Kaya International team was forced to cut short their event in Kilifi after receiving confirmation of Nzomo’s death.
Tributes Pour In
Following the devastating announcement, tributes have been pouring in across social media from fans, musicians, and industry peers who described Nzomo as a rare talent and a master of the keyboard.
“He was one of the best in the game. Kaya International will never sound the same without him,” wrote one heartbroken fan.

Nzomo’s body has since been taken to the Kilifi Hospital Mortuary as family, friends, and band members plan for his funeral arrangements.
