With the rising cases of unemployment in Kenya continuing to bite hard, many young people are increasingly adopting unconventional ways to survive in the tough economic climate and TikToker Baba Talisha backs the same up.
Over the years, it has become more common to see young ladies opting to date older, financially stable men, popularly known as Wababa, who are able to take care of their needs and offer financial security amid shrinking job opportunities.
Interestingly, young men have not been left behind in this growing trend.
A section of men is also choosing to date or associate with older, wealthy women, commonly referred to as Wamama who can bankroll their lifestyles, fund businesses, or simply provide the financial cushioning that many hustlers struggle to attain in today’s economy.

As the wave continues to gain traction, popular TikToker Baba Talisha has weighed in on the matter, offering candid advice to his fans and followers.
Instead of condemning or shunning the trend, Baba Talisha openly encouraged young men and women to embrace relationships with older, rich partners if the opportunity presents itself.
In a Facebook post seen by Nairobi News, Baba Talisha advised that those lucky enough to land affluent older partners should not hesitate to enjoy the benefits that come with such relationships.
According to him, the current economic realities have made it extremely difficult for young people to rely solely on hustling, especially with limited opportunities and stiff competition in almost every sector.
“Ukipata chance ya kuwekwa, wekwa! Kujitafutia si rahisi,” Baba Talisha wrote, a statement that bluntly translates to urging young people to accept financial sponsorship if they get the chance, noting that self-hustling is no walk in the park.
The outspoken TikToker further argued that in today’s Kenya, it has become easier to be sponsored by rich older men and women than to struggle endlessly trying to make ends meet.
His remarks reflect the frustrations many youths face as they navigate unemployment, underemployment, and rising living costs.
Unsurprisingly, Baba Talisha’s statement sparked mixed reactions online.
While some netizens criticised his advice, arguing that it promotes dependency and moral decay, quite a number of followers supported his sentiments, agreeing that survival sometimes calls for practical and controversial choices.

Others noted that his comments merely highlight the harsh economic truths many young Kenyans are grappling with daily.
