A 41-year-old man died after falling from an avocado tree while harvesting fruit in Chuka North Sub County, Tharaka Nithi County.
Police identified the deceased as Julius Kinyua, who reportedly fell from an approximately 13-foot-high avocado tree at around noon on Sunday.
Police officers visited the scene and established that Kinyua was harvesting avocados when he accidentally fell head-first from the tree, dying instantly.
Investigators noted that the deceased had sustained a swollen head, with blood oozing from his nose, injuries consistent with the fall.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Chuka County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
And a man died after drowning in a swimming pool at a resort in Mwea East Sub-county, Kirinyaga County, police have said.
The victim, identified as Simon Gitonga, had visited the resort on Sunday with four other customers when the incident occurred.
According to police, the resort manager reported that at about 5 p.m., Gitonga dived into the swimming pool but became unresponsive after remaining underwater for some time.
He was pulled from the water by those at the scene and rushed to Kimbimbi Sub-County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Officers from Wang’uru Police Station, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mwea East, and crime scene personnel visited the resort, processed and documented the scene as investigations into the incident began.
Police said the body had no visible external injuries.
The body was transferred to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
