Tanzanians use Larry Madowo ’s photo as profile pictures after explosive exposé on Samia Hassan’s brutality


CNN journalist Larry Madowo has been hailed as a national hero in Tanzania following the release of a chilling documentary exposing mass killings in the country after a violent General Election.

A few days earlier, Madowo had taken to social media to urge Tanzanians to submit videos and images capturing police brutality and alleged state-sanctioned killings linked to President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Tanzanians responded overwhelmingly, sharing extensive footage showing the scale of violence reportedly carried out by police officers during the post-election unrest.

CNN later compiled a gripping documentary confirming the deaths witnessed after the election and published it across its broadcast and digital platforms.

The exposé painted a stark picture of the alleged cruelty under President Samia’s leadership, triggering international attention and calls for possible accountability.

In essence, Larry Madowo helped Tanzanians bring global awareness to the suffering they endured under their own government.

Within hours, countless Tanzanians updated their profile photos with Madowo’s picture, praising the journalist for his fearlessness and for standing up for Tanzanians as strongly as he would for Kenyans.
